Type Locality

'The flat parts near the Cape', now identified as South Africa, Northern Cape Prov., Kuruman Dist., Little Klibbolikhonni Fontein (Grubb, 1999:16).

Description

The horse was introduced to Tanzania, while the zebra is a common resident of the grasslands.

Distribution

Found in grasslands, steppes, savannas, and woodlands, Equus burchelli is distributed from the Sudan and Ethiopia down through East Africa to northern South Africa and across the Angola and Namibia. (Kingdon, 1997)
